Extraordinary Council Meeting 19th August 2026

The Council understands that the modifications Horsham District Council (HDC) has proposed to its Draft Local Plan are causing concern, particularly the proposal for a 3,200-home settlement south of Adversane, and 350 homes being added to the previously suggested 650 homes to the East of Billingshurst.

Billingshurst Parish Council (BPC) will consider its response to the proposed modifications at an extraordinary meeting on 19 August, 6.30pm at which representatives from HDC will be present.

Although this is a meeting of the Parish Council, rather than a public meeting, members of the public are very welcome to attend. There will be an adjournment during which members of the public may speak. On this occasion, anyone wishing to speak is asked to book a speaking slot by emailing council@billingshurst.gov.uk.

Speaking slots will be limited to a maximum of three minutes and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If demand is high, priority will be given to residents of Billingshurst Parish. If you are a member of an organisation or part of a group of like-minded residents, we would encourage you to nominate one person to speak on behalf of the group.

The agenda for the meeting will be published on the Council’s website in due course. Please bear in mind that this is a meeting where BPC will consider its response to HDC’s consultation; we encourage people to make their views known directly to HDC too, as part of the consultation process or to their District Councillors.
