Billingshurst In Bloom 2020

Following the success of Station Road Gardens and the village itself in last year’s South & South East in Bloom competition, where Silver Gilt and Silver were achieved respectively, the Parish Council is once again holding its own local In Bloom competition.

Last years’ competition once again proved very popular with local residents and businesses, and in an effort to encourage community involvement to help support the entry, it is hoped even more will be keen to get involved, by entering their garden, tubs and baskets.  Even if you don't fancy having a go yourself, why not encourage a friend or neighbour to enter their garden/tubs.window boxes instead? All of those who enter will be invited along to our awards ceremony in September!

To enter, please print off the form below, complete and return to the Parish Office by 30 June 2020. The form can also be found on the Parish Council's centre spread pages of the Village Tweet publications for end March and end April 2020.

Former Achievements

The Council’s Station Road Gardens site has been very successful over the last few years having been entered into the South & South East in Bloom Competition.

The picture shows Parish Council Clerk Greg Burt and Friends of Station Roads Gardens' Chairman Keith Brown, showing South & South East in Bloom Judge Jean Griffin around the gardens back in 2017. The park was being inspected for the Best Small Park category.  Greg said, "It was a beautiful day, and Council staff members, contractors and the volunteers had pulled out all the stops to ensure the site was looking its very best. Jean had visited the site privately some years ago so was able to see how the site had developed since it was first laid out. A very experienced horticulturalist who lives in Horsham, Jean met some of the other volunteers and park users and was able to give Keith a few tips on some necessary pruning!

In September 2017, Stuart Sexton of the Friends of Station Road Gardens and Billingshurst Parish Clerk Greg Burt were delighted to attend the South & South East in Bloom Awards Ceremony at Copthorne, collecting a Silver Gilt Certificate for the Gardens in the Best Small Park Category.

Greg said "For our very first entry, this is a fabulous result and a tribute to the hard work of all the volunteers, staff and contractors who keep this site looking so good. As a past In Bloom Coordinator for Alton, it was great to catch up with some Bloomin' old friends too!"  The gardens went on to retain the Silver Gilt award in 2018 & 2019
